It just happened a few days ago, but we haven’t heard any news of this from major media.
Senator John McCain decided to be a Republican-for-a-day. McCain and fellow Senators John Thune and Norm Colement have introduced legislation to protect our beloved conservative talk radio shows. The legislation would prevent reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine.
McCain feels that imposing such rules would stifle free speech, and says there are plenty of viewpoints in the marketplace. Say, just like this website right here for instance: Save Talk Radio dot org. One cannot forget the thousands of liberal websites and blogs which offer opposing viewpoints. This isn’t the mid 80’s when the movie War Games seemed so cool. He could connect his computer and dial into other computers, and his computer even talked to him like Knight Rider!
We have websites, blogs, podcasts and many other means to express our political views. Which brings up a good point; once you require equal viewpoints on radio, what happens to the Internet? Do liberal websites have to allow Republicans to write 50 percent of the content? How many percentage points do Libertarians get? The questions are endless on this one.
With the majority of the media following the liberal spin of the New York Times, and local media feeding off the same stories and slants, conservative talk radio is all we have to hear the opposing viewpoint. It’s good to see a Republican / Democrat such as Senator John McCain stand up for free speech and the possibility for a true equal voice in U.S. media.

Here is an interesting video from way back in January 2007. Congressman Dennis Kucinich discusses how he is going to revisit the Fairness Doctrine. The Youtube video description says, “Dennis Kucinich seeks fairness in media. Kucinich will hold hearings on the FCC and the Fairness Doctrine.”
He seeks fairness in the media by shutting down all of his enemies, namely conservative talk radio hosts.
Get a load of this spin, and then right into a rant about the war in Iraq.
He sure would make a great President, huh?
Six months later and we’ve slowed down their hatred for the conservative voice, but their plan to rid the world of evil talk radio is not finished.

With the recent defeat of the Immigration (amnesty) Bill, people are worried that this will add further fuel to the fire for liberals hell bent on ending talk radio as we know it. Even though Mike Pence helped to prohibit federal funding for the Fairness Doctrine, we should all still be very worried.
Conservative talk show radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Neil Boortz and others have spoken daily against illegal immigration. As the liberals have control of the major media, the only thing in their way from passing an amnesty bill and securing the Hispanic vote is to end talk radio once and for all. No more political thoughts, ideas, positions or comments about anything. After all, we can’t think for ourselves, so we need big brother to save us from the one-sided, racist, diatribe ramblings of conservative talk radio.
Senator Harry Reid (D) had the following to say.
Talk radio has had a field day. These generators of simplicity — now, Mr. President, I want everyone to know and I want the record spread, I do not believe that anyone who is a United States senator that votes against this motion to proceed is filled with prejudice, with hatred, with venom as we get in our phone calls and our mail. I don’t believe that. But I do believe, Mr. President, that we have an issue before us that we must resolve.”
An issue before us that we must resolve . . . as in we need to get rid of talk radio. Here is what Harry is really thinking: Because of talk radio, I had citizens who actually cared about an issue enough to call me endlessly. I received so many phone calls that my only response is to say that these callers are racists Hispanic-phobes that don’t care about America.

It is a great week to finally get this website up and running. Thanks to Representative Mike Pence from Indiana, they overwhelmingly passed a bill to prevent the use of federal funds to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. “There’s nothing fair about the Fairness Doctrine,” said Pence, a former syndicated talk radio host.
This is great news to start the site with, but it’s still not over yet . . .
